Eligibility Criteria (As on 01 August 2025):

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) or equivalent from a recognized board.

Age Limit:

  • MTS: 18–25 years (Born between 02 August 2000 and 01 August 2007)
  • Havaldar (CBIC/CBN): 18–27 years (Born between 02 August 1998 and 01 August 2007)
  • Age Relaxation:
    • SC/ST: 5 years
    • OBC: 3 years
    • PwBD: 10–15 years
    • Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deduction of military service

Nationality:

  • Must be an Indian citizen or as per SSC norms (including subjects of Nepal, Bhutan, and eligible PIOs from select countries).

Application Fee:

  • General/OBC/EWS: ₹100
  • SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen/Women: Fee exempted

Selection Process:

  1. Computer-Based Examination (Paper I) – For both MTS and Havaldar
  2. PET/PST – Only for Havaldar
  3. Document Verification (DV)
  4. Detailed Medical Examination (DME) – Only for Havaldar

Exam Pattern – Paper I (CBT):

  • Session I (No negative marking)
    • Numerical & Mathematical Ability: 20 Questions (60 Marks)
    • Reasoning Ability & Problem Solving: 20 Questions (60 Marks)
  • Session II (1 mark negative for each wrong answer)
    • General Awareness: 25 Questions (75 Marks)
    • English Language & Comprehension: 25 Questions (75 Marks)
  • Duration per session: 45 minutes
  • Total Questions: 90
  • Total Marks: 270

Syllabus Overview – Paper I:

Numerical and Mathematical Ability:
Integers, LCM/HCF, Decimals, Fractions, BODMAS, Ratios, Percentages, Time and Work, Profit & Loss, Interest, Area & Perimeter, Graph Interpretation, etc.

Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving:
Coding-Decoding, Series, Analogy, Clock, Calendar, Direction, Age problems, Non-verbal reasoning, Puzzles.

General Awareness:
Current Affairs, Indian History, Constitution, Geography, Economy, Science & Tech, Static GK, Culture, Polity.

English Language and Comprehension:
Error spotting, Fill in the blanks, Synonyms, Antonyms, Idioms, One-word substitution, Sentence improvement, Reading comprehension.

PET/PST (Only for Havaldar):

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

  • Male: Walk 1.6 km in 15 minutes
  • Female: Walk 1 km in 20 minutes

Physical Standard Test (PST):

  • Male: Height, Chest (expansion required)
  • Female: Height and Weight criteria

Pay Scale:

  • Level-1 (₹18,000 – ₹56,900) as per 7th CPC

Job Role:

  • MTS: Clerical, peon, support staff duties in central government offices
  • Havaldar: Field duties under CBIC and CBN departments
