NTA UGC NET June 2025 Exam Overview
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the UGC NET (University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test) June 2025 cycle for eligibility towards Assistant Professor roles and the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.
Exam Dates:
June 25 to June 29, 2025
Application Details:
- Start Date: April 16, 2025
- Last Date to Apply: May 12, 2025
- Last Date for Fee Payment: May 13, 2025
- Application Correction Window: May 14 to May 15, 2025
Eligibility Criteria:
- Educational Qualification: Master’s degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender). Final-year students or those awaiting results may apply provisionally.
- Age Limit (as on June 1, 2025):
- JRF: Not more than 30 years (relaxations applicable for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Third Gender, women, LLM degree holders, research experience, and armed forces personnel).
- Assistant Professor: No upper age limit
- PhD Admission: No upper age limit
Exam Pattern:
- Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
- Total Papers: 2
- Paper 1: 50 questions (General Aptitude) – 100 marks
- Paper 2: 100 questions (Subject-specific) – 200 marks
- Total Duration: 3 hours (no break)
- Marking Scheme: +2 for each correct answer, no negative marking
- Languages: English and Hindi

- Comprehension

- People, Development and Environment
- Higher Education System: Governance and Policy
Paper 2 (Subject-Specific):
Covers deep knowledge of the subject chosen (from 85 subjects). Candidates should choose based on their post-graduation subject.

Available for download on the official website: ugcnet.nta.ac.in
Login with your application number and date of birth.
Answer Key:
After the exam, NTA will release a provisional answer key allowing candidates to challenge responses before publishing the final answer key.
Results:
Expected in July 2025. Result will be published on ugcnet.nta.ac.in and will indicate qualification status for JRF and/or Assistant Professor.
How to Prepare:
- Understand and follow the official syllabus for both papers.
- Solve previous year papers to understand exam difficulty and format.
- Attempt online mock tests regularly.
