Eligibility Criteria

Practice:

  • Must be an advocate with at least 7 years of continuous practice
  • Must not be in service of the Union or any State Government
  • Certificate of such practice must be issued by District & Sessions Judge, Registrar of High Courts, or Secretary General of the Supreme Court

Age Limit (as on 01 January 2024):

  • General/OBC/EWS/SC/ST (Other States): 35 to 45 years
  • SC/ST/OBC/PwD (U.P. domicile only): 35 to 48 years
  • DOB Range:
    • General: 02 January 1979 to 01 January 1989
    • SC/ST/OBC (U.P.): 02 January 1976 to 01 January 1989

Citizenship:

  • Must be a citizen of India, a subject of Sikkim, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01 January 1962 intending to settle permanently

Reservation

  • 20% Horizontal Reservation for Women (subject to final court orders)
  • 4% Horizontal Reservation for PwD under U.P. Higher Judicial Service Rules, 1975
  • Reservation benefits applicable only for U.P. domicile candidates
